ADDIKTS APPROVED: Rudy Currence

Posted by 4daLove On May - 11 - 2010

rudy currence

My first exposure to Rudy Currence was while browsing Youtube searching for clips of Algebra. I ran across a video of Algebra & Rudy Currence doing a rendition of Justin Timberlake’s “Til The End of Time”. Initially I wasn’t impressed with Rudy’s style and thought he was a little extra. But he quickly grew on me and before I knew it his sophomore album “Here With You” was in heavy rotation on my iPod. With a style that’s a little gospel, a little Hip-Hip and a little R&B, Rudy Currence has something for everyone. I had the pleasure of seeing Rudy perform live for the first time last year, and loved hearing the crowds reaction to “Weave Ponytail”. Currence recently signed with Ludacris’ Disturbing The Peace label and has an album entitled “Black Keys & Blue Skies” being released this summer. If you aren’t familiar with Rudy’s music do yourself a favor and check him out on Youtube , Myspace, Facebook or Twitter.

New Music: Janelle Monae Is Walking A “Tightrope”

Posted by loverofSOUL On April - 5 - 2010

Janelle’s has released the video for the first single “Tightrope” featuring Big Boi A.K.A. Leftfoot, from her sophomore album “Archandroid”.  I really like this song and it’s message which is basically whether thing are going well or not so well in your life keep your balance and stay focused, because in either situation you’re going to face problems.  I love the “tightrope” dance too, very cute.   Janelle is currently touring to promote her album so go to her Myspace page to find out when she’s coming to your city.  If you’re in the Atlanta area don’t miss her at Smith’s Olde Bar in Midtown April 5th &6th.

Almost Famous Friday: Cairo Benn and Jack Freegard

Posted by 4daLove On April - 2 - 2010

One of my favorite Stevie Wonder songs.  Cairo Benn (the voice) and Jack Freegard (the guitarist) put their spin on this classic tune with a simple acoustic version of the song.  I think Cairo Benn has a nice voice and reminds me a little of Jason Mraz.  Check out his Youtube page for Cairo’s covers of other songs like “Spitting Game” by Anthony David or Ryan Leslie’s “IRINA”.

Happy Friday and Stay HIGH!!
